The Frontier Is Closer Than We Think: Notes from My First Days Deep Diving into Space
I didn’t plan to fall down the space rabbit hole, but here I am—mind blown, appetite opened, and curiosity fully activated.
The truth? It all felt so flighty at first.
But as I started learning, reading, watching, and listening... I realised something. We are a lot further along than I thought.
Day 1: Satellites, Clean Energy, and Space Stations
Within a few hours, I’d already uncovered:
That commercial space stations are not just a concept—they are actively being built and targeted for launch around 2030.
That the UK, US, Japan and others are pushing toward space-based solar energy, with some aiming to make it viable by 2029.
That space tourism is more real than I imagined. Still for the ultra-wealthy (for now), but so were cars, planes, even computers at one point.
Suddenly, we’re not asking if space is possible. We’re asking when it becomes accessible.
And I realised something bigger:
Maybe space is our generation’s version of the internet boom. The equivalent of the dot com era. And we’re just waking up to it.
That’s why I’m doing this. To track it. Document it. Digest it. And maybe bring a few others along who feel like it all sounds too "out there" to understand.
Day 2: Learning By Osmosis
I started letting basic space and rocket videos play in the background while I worked—on topics like:
How rocket engines function
Fuel options: Hydrogen, methane, reusability
Why reusable tech is the next big efficiency breakthrough
And in between that, I’m reading timelines.
10-15 years is the realistic window for commercial space tourism.
The ISS (International Space Station) has quietly been proving human space travel is viable for decades. And it’s still in use.
So maybe we won’t be moonwalking in our lifetime—but floating hotels orbiting Earth? That no longer sounds like sci-fi.
Trying to Stay Ahead, Even with Limited Means
As a Black woman with limited access to traditional routes into this industry, I know I’m an outsider. But I’m also someone who missed out on the rise of Apple. Of the internet. Of Web2. Of Ai
So now?
I’m putting a finger to the pulse. Trying to be a beat ahead of change:
Watching developments.
Considering future investment ideas.
Asking if maybe, just maybe, this is the frontier worth following.
We already have:
A football-sized space station floating in orbit
Dozens of satellites up there already
Real government-funded innovation toward cleaner space-sourced energy
The question isn’t if space happens. It’s how far ahead are you watching?
Coming Soon I'm working on:
Making space more digestible for newcomers
Tracking launches and updates in real-time (see the Watch This Space page)
Dropping regular blog entries as I learn
Check back soon. Or start your own dive. The new frontier is already unfolding.
